What to carry along

Shoes: We usually carry 2 pairs among these depending on location

  • Walking shoes from Sparx
  • Hiking shoes if walking on snow or taking long hikes. They have lasted for more than 2 years now. Although not fully waterproof, they are good enough for light rain and walk on snow
  • Sandals
  • Flip flops

Thermals: You can find a wide variety an Amazon for men and women

Hand warmers:  Warmee is useful for extreme bouts of cold like Dalvik in Iceland. A pair is handy to carry. They work on opening and shaking creating an exothermic reaction and releasing heat

Jackets: Waterproof jacket is quite helpful in serving in both cold and rainy season

Rain coats: Required specially in places like Iceland which are windy, making an umbrella useless. Zip them on before going below waterfalls, on water splashing boat tours and in normal rains

Hiking poles: We have been relying on temporary plant stick poles so far and recently started using this, to yet to have strong feedback. It is a little difficult to understand how to operate this first time. Have a look at tutorial vides on Youtube to avoid having a stick that wont collapse or collapse too quickly

Bagpack cover: Our passports once got drenched in the rain giving us a scare just before a flight. Post that incident, we always make it a point to carry bag covers to protect important documents from rain

Packing list: For long list of everything we pack
