Bratislava is the capital and hub for all flights and trains, with good connections to Vienna, Budapest and other smaller cities
If you are staying for more than a week in Eurozone and not opting for car rentals, Eurail pass can be worth the cost. It comes in variants as low as 4 days to 3 months, offering unlimited train travel among participating countries. Only long-distance trains are covered, the local trams or metros are not covered

Places to visit in Slovakia
Slovakia has many interesting places to visit like the capital Bratislava, architecture town of Bardejov, Bojnice- the spa town with a castle, karst mountains on eastern side, castle at Spis, settlements of Vikolinec
We have been able to visit only Bratislava and would to be back here to cover the rest in future
Bratislava
A nice city with cobblestoned pathways. You can easily walk and cover the major attractions
Bratislava castle: The iconic castle of the capital city. There are other castles in town like Red stone castle which are also worth visiting
Slavin monument: Dedicated to soldiers of World War II, provides a nice view of the city from top
St. Martin’s cathedral: This church was built over a cemetery, so there are crypts on the lower floors. Ensure you visit the catacombs inside
SNP Bridge: The New bridge on the Danube river
