Hyderabad, the capital of Telangana has a heavy Islamic influence. I have visited places across different work trips and would love to go back to see more. The Golconda fort, Charminar, Falaknuma Palace, Salar Jung museum, Hussain Sagar Lake, Statue of Equality are some of the prominent places to visit in Hyderabad
Hyderabad is also famous for street fruit, especially non vegetarian dishes like kheema, kebabs, biryani and what not. The markets are bustling with vendors selling all colorful clothes, food and souvenirs
Charminar
The icon of the city built by Sultan Mohammed Quli Qutb Shah in 15th century. You can climb on top, so go towards the evening so that you also get to see the night life in the markets around
Hussain Sagar Lake
A peaceful lake for locals to relax and stroll around. You can see the Buddha statue from quite a distance away
Falaknuma Palace
You can see the entire city from the palace which is on a hilltop. It is a hotel managed by Taj Group and not open to public. You can enter if you have a reservation in the restaurant or hotel. You can see the 100 seater long dining table with silverware in one of the rooms
Statue of Equality
Ramanujacharya statue made from 120kg gold, beyond the airport. It is the second largest sitting statue in the world. You can see the statue from flights while landing into the city. If you have some time before or after your flight, visit this place since it is closer to the airport than the city
Salarjung Museum
One of the best in India with expansive collection of historic artefacts
Golconda fort
Another icon of the city. The Qutub Shahi tombs are close by which you can visit after seeing the fort
Hyderabad is also famous for pearls and street food like Haleem. Vegetarian options are few and typically in a common joint with non vegetarian food
