Getting In and around
Copenhagen is the capital and hub for trains and flights. Cities are well connected through trains within the country. You can use public transport and walk within cities
The train journey from Hamburg in Germany to Denmark was an absolute surprise for me when I went the first time. The train is a short one that gets loaded on to a Scandlines ferry to cross the sea from Puttgarden to Roedby. You could get out of the train and spend time on the ferry deck during channel crossing and get back onto the train again for further journey till Copenhagen. This route has been discontinued from 2020
You can take one of the free walking tours that work on tips only mode at Copenhagen
Cruises operate between Oslo to Copenhagen- an option to consider overnight travel which can be cheaper in case you want to travel further to Norway and Scandinavia
Currency- Danish Krone
Euro might be accepted in large hotels and tourist spots, but better to have small change in local currency

You can feel people enjoying the sun, weather and way of life, referred to as Hygge (pronounced “hoo-ga”). Hygge is difficult to describe in words. It encompasses enjoying good things in life, warm atmosphere, reflecting well-being and rejuvenation
How much does it cost
Denmark like all other Scandinavian countries is on more expensive side
- Flights: $700-900. Indigo with Turkish Airline code share offers cheaper flights
- Accommodation: Hostels cost $25+ per night and mid-range can be around $100. We took night trains and stayed at a friend’s place to save up on accommodation
- Travelling around: Budget $20-30 per day for public transport
- Food: $25 for simple takeaways. Coffee can be easily $7-10. Finding vegetarian options is quite difficult, so better to cook or make your own sandwiches from supermarket purchase. The open sandwich here is famous called smørrebrød
