A small country between Switzerland and Austria, with a nice castle in the capital city of Vaduz. The travel from Zurich in Switzerland to Vaduz is quite scenic- take this route if you have an option. We frankly felt the day trip to Vaduz made sense since we anyway had a Eurail pass and we did not spend much to visit the country. Folks who want to increase country count are the ones you see here! Nevertheless, the country is really a nice one, but similar to Switzerland and Austria if you are anyway visiting them. The most prominent places to visit in Liechtenstein include Vaduz the capital and surrounding small towns
Best time to visit
Spring and Autumn between Mar- May, Sep- Nov are best months to visit. The temperature will be pleasant with minimal rains and snow. The beaches are the best in summer, but hot and humid at the same time
Visa
Schengen visa is valid here
Currency- Swiss Francs
Cards might not be accepted, so carry cash. Euro is accepted with a bad exchange rate
Getting in and around
You can take a train till Sargans border town in Switzerland and then take a bus #11 costing less than 10 CHF to Vaduz. The bus also connects Feldkirch station in Austria
Places to visit in Leichtenstein
Vaduz castle: A nice castle on the hill top. You can see the castle only from outside. A walk towards the river gets you to Old Rhine bridge with good views of mountains beside the river. The capital Vaduz has a 35 minute tram tour option, costing 12 CHF that can take you through the city. We recommend only a day trip and you are better off spending the night elsewhere like Trisenberg if you really want to stay in the country
